How do I get the foreclosure record of the house I rent and live in, and is there a cost?

The foreclosure record is the record of the foreclosing bank. The information is not public except the fact that the house was foreclosed at county recorder’s office. You might contact the foreclosing bank and ask if you could view the file but I doubt the bank will cooperate.

You can gain all that information from the county assessors office. Sometimes they will post on their website.

If the house is under foreclosure proceedings, this is now a public record and you can contact your municipality or county administration building for the information. If it’s under pre-foreclosure you may not have access to it. All depends on your state’s regulations. Start by calling your municipality.

I can’t imagine what this will do for you, but the tax assessor can tell you if the house was ever foreclosed on, any title company can look that up too.

There is no foreclosure record to be gotten.
If the house is in pre-foreclosure you should speak with the owner and attempt to purchase the house from him/her. He is still the owner of the property and can still sell the home.
Someone will have to make up the back payments, so be prepared for that. he might want a little walk away money, so be prepared for that.
Taxes and insurance are prorated between the seller and buyer. This can be worked out through your escrow closing agent.
This is the best thing to do. If you are unsure of how to do this you might check out a book on buying foreclosed property. The book would cost approximately $15-$20 and a day or so to read.
You will not be an expert, but you will be familiar enough to get your transaction into a title company to complete the transaction.
If the property go through the foreclosure process and to the sale the lender/bank will expect full payment and you would be required to get a new mortgage through qualification.
Even if the property does not sell at the foreclosure auction the bank will have to complete the legal paper work after which they will assign the property to a local real estate broker so they may sell the property.
If this happen you will eventually be asked to leave.

you buy it from the bank. the foreclosure or reo does not stay with the home just the people who defaulted on the note
